Hijj

About Hajj is the fifth pillar of Islam, and is an obligation on every sane, capable adult Muslim, performed in Mecca at a specific time of the year (the month of Dhul-Hijjah). Hajj is considered one of the greatest acts of worship that combines physical and financial worship, and represents an opportunity for repentance and drawing closer to Allah. Hajj includes a set of rituals, starting with Ihram (the intention to enter the ritual), then Tawaf around the Kaaba, walking between Safa and Marwah, standing at Arafat, spending the night in Muzdalifah, and stoning the Jamarat in Mina. Hajj is characterized by gathering Muslims from all over the world in one place, reflecting unity and equality among Muslims. The legal evidence for the obligation of Hajj is mentioned in the Holy Quran and the Sunnah. In the Holy Quran, Allah Almighty says: “And Hajj to the House is a duty that mankind owes to Allah, those who can afford the expenses” (Surah Al Imran, verse 97).
